I Heart Summer

I NEVER want this summer schedule to end.  Never.  The lazy days of summer reign.  And NOT being a morning person I simply love it!  Time for family and friends and themed birthday parties and ME.

I do have to admit, however, that I might be going overboard.

I received a phone call from the doctor's office last Friday telling me they had an unexpected opening today.  I was so excited--we have been waiting for weeks and this specialist has a long waiting list.

The receptionist told me the opening was for Monday, at 8 o'clock.

I frowned.  That didn't make sense to me.  I gave a long pause, trying to alleviate the confusion in my brain.  I knew it couldn't be 8 o-clock in the morning.  She may has well have said 2 AM!  How could anyone have an appointment that early

I replied, "Sooo, 8 o'clock at night?"

Now she was confused and gave the pause.

I immediately realized my blunder.  I mean, what kind of specialist has appointments at 8 o'clock at night??  Especially a well-known, sought after pediatric specialist who works at a big children's hospital and has a waiting list as long as my prized summer reading list?

And yet, the other possibility--8 o'clock in the MORNING??

Isn't it still dark at 8 o'clock in the morning?

I fumbled through the rest of the conversation quite certain the receptionist had her best laugh of the day.  Eight o'clock at night??  Ha!  We should probably offer happy hour too!  Huh?  Loser!

So this morning began at 6.  AM.  In the morning.  Because we live an hour away from the hospital.  In the morning at 6. AM.  I was awake.  And up.  And dressed.  In the morning.  6.  AM.  Taking my coffee via IV and putting on five coats of make-up to cover the bags under my eyes. At 6.  AM. Trying to present as if I always get up at 6 AM.  Trying to disappoint the receptionist who was, no doubt, eagerly awaiting my arrival--expecting me to arrive in p.j.s.  No doubt.

It wasn't pretty, but somehow, I survived.

I wholeheartedly agree!! I never want to return back to a scheduled life again! I'm also not a morning person. The kids' dentists take kids as early as 7am. I pushed out their visits just to avoid that! (Krista)

Guessing the call came in at 8:00 AM last Friday morning? No wonder you were sooo confused! haha! No? Oh, well. Happy she got her laugh, and I confess it gave me a good giggle reading about it today.

Peace out, Ann!
Love the pic!

I'm glad you got in. I'll be curious to hear how it went. But I agree about the morning-thing. I had a similar conversation when I scheduled H's sleep deprived EEG for 6am. I have a good friend who is pretty sure that there is no oxygen in the air at that hour of the morning.
