Thank You Veterans and Books For Kids

On this day I thank all the brave men and women, past and present, who have sacrificed for our freedom. You are not forgotten, and I thank you for your service--we truly are the land of the free, because of the brave.

As part of a school project Mei Mei made a card to send to the Veteran's Hospital.

Love her and love her artwork.  She wrote, "Thank you for serving our country during the wars.  US is a strong country.  Freedom means no slaves and no torture fighting no discrimination or boss you around. Theres lots of freedom in US.  Thank you for the freedom."

We have many family members who have served.  Thank you each and every one.  Having been a mama with her military husband far away, so often, I love books that help kids understand.  A few of my favorites:  H is for Honor: A Military Family Alphabet by Scillian, Tucky Jo and Little Heart by Polocco, My Dad's a Hero by Christianson/Armstrong, A Paper Hug by Skolmaski, and Night Catch by Ehrmantraut.

This is an especially beautiful book about a boy and his military father, who is overseas, and they blow a star back and forth each night.

Sending love and prayers to all military men, women, and their families.
